Music

Music is taught using resources from the ‘Charanga’ scheme of work. Key Stage 1 children engage with various topic based activities that grow the children's ability to recognise and use various percussion instruments and vocal ability. Key Stage 2 children begin exploring tuned musical instruments and develop their timekeeping and notation skills, again with various topic based activities as a framework. Children will be exposed to music from many different genres and cultures throughout the scheme and are encouraged to use their knowledge of musical elements to help them understand and reflect on the music that they listen to.
