The Friends of St Lawrence School consists of parents, carers, family members and teachers of the school. It has been established for more than 30 years and in its time has raised thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children’s educational experience and the school’s facilities.
We have regular meetings throughout the year to discuss and organise events and to decide what can be funded. Our Annual General Meeting is held at the beginning of each academic year and provides the opportunity for all parents, carers and family members to come along and hear in more detail the work we do, the events we have run, the funds raised and how the money raised has been spent in the past year. The AGM is also when we formally elect our committee members.
Our current committee officers are:
Chair - Sarah Jordan
Vice Chair - Natalie Myhill
Treasurer - Mary Collyer
Secretary - Ruth Sparshott
All parents and members of the school community, including teachers, are encouraged to get involved in the work of the Friends, even if they only have a small amount of time available. It doesn’t matter if you cannot help on a regular basis, or even if you cannot come into school. There are always jobs that can be done from home if you have half an hour to spare and we always appreciate new ideas for events and suggestions for improvements we could make or items we could fund. We really couldn’t achieve what we do without the behind the scenes help we receive.
