Food Project

The ASSET Food Project 2024-25

In 2024-25 children from each ASSET school are working together with all children and families to improve the food we eat in school, so that children's lunches are healthier and better for the planet.

Our aims are that:

So what's happening?

A core focus of our project is to understand why children and families may choose not to have a healthy cooked meal at lunchtimes. Children and adults came together at our Food Summit on 26th November to focus on the challenges. Each school took away one of these challenges, and £500 of seed funding to develop a project to "solve" their challenge. They will present their work back at a showcase in July.

We'll also share a series of activities through the year leading towards the launch of our new food offering in September 2025. This will include the development of an ASSET recipe book, community cooking sessions, new child led marketing to refresh dining rooms and sharing of the outcomes of each school's challenge project.
