Wellbeing and Mental Health

At Ilketshall St Lawrence Primary School, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff. We have a supportive and caring ethos and our approach is respectful and kind, where each individual and their contribution is valued. At our school we know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play. Complete Human Strategy

Well-being is also a Trust priority. We therefore have an ASSET programme of work which we follow to ensure every child, parent, staff member and indidivual within the school community is reassured that their wellbeing and own mental health is of great importance to us as a team. This strategy is called the Complete Human Strategy.

Our work on this strategy ensures that throughout the year we focus on six different pillars - these are Relationships and Communication, Positivity, Time Well Spent, Place, Expertise and Structure. Together we work on action points to enhance and develop our response to each of these areas. We have also signed up to the Wellbeing Charter which we hope will enhance and develop our work even further.

Blurt It Out

The Blurt Peer Project is all about mental health and how it affects the way we think, feel and behave. Just like our physical health, sometimes it’s good and sometimes it is not-so-good and there are lots of things we can do to look after our mental wellbeing.

The topics that we have been covering have included: What Are Emotions? What Do Emotions Feel Like? Are Feelings Okay? Who Can We Talk To? Self-Care And Boundaries, Kindness, Identity, Resilience And Problem Solving

National Awareness Events

To further promote the importance of positive mental health we, as a school community, also take part in all national awareness events.

From dressing up to cake sales we always make sure we celebrate awareness events and encourage families and our community to join us!
